Overview of our solutions

Pangaea Healthcare Solutions provides Specialist Medical Consults (SMC) which are managed through Pangaea’s proprietary, Internet based IT platforms in strategic partnership with renowned medical specialists at tier-one medical centers. The Pangaea SMC process provides written reviews of both original diagnoses and recommended treatment protocols. Our programs are HIPAA compliant, and our processes and staff take great care in maintaining all information confidentially.

Increasingly, patients and healthcare professionals have come to recognize Specialist Medical Consults as a highly desirable and often essential part of managing a life-threatening or life-altering medical condition; our programs address this need. Whether because of its great value-added perception to consumers, a cost abatement tool for healthcare organizations and self-funded programs, marketing differentiation or enhancement to products, our products and services have universal appeal across the spectrum and around the world.

Our individually designed membership programs can be based on a pre-pay, capitated basis, either on a PMPM- or PMPY-basis, as selected by payers.

Customer service and access to services for eligible members are made through Pangaea’s in-house call center. The SMC is a physician-to-physician process and involves the member’s treating physician throughout the process. To obtain a second opinion consult, an eligible member completes and signs basic authorization and consent forms granting permission to contact the member’s physicians and healthcare services providers, and collect all pertinent medical records, documents, imaging and pathology reports pertaining to the medical condition. There are no deductibles, no co-insurance, no exclusion for pre-existing conditions, and no waiting periods. Pangaea’s programs are NOT insurance products.

Benchmark Guidelines: The delivery of a completed, written SMC to the attending physician and the member is delivered in as little as two to three days, and within a maximum of 15 working days after the complete information has reached the selected medical center, depending on the option (see below) selected by the member.

Option A

Member and attending physician select. The member and the attending physician may select a venue from any of the more than 6,000 medical centers in the US. Pangaea will endeavor to provide an SMC from the selected medical center, and will do so within 15 to 20 working days after complete information is received by the selected medical center.

Option B

Pangaea will provide a suggested list. Pangaea will submit to the member and the attending physician a list of three of the medical centers with specific specialization in the medical condition at hand. The member and attending physician select one of the three, and Pangaea will arrange for a written review of the original diagnosis and recommended treatment within 10 working days after the complete medical data is received at the medical center.

Option C

Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. Pangaea is located on the campus of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center; the member and the attending physician may elect to have the SMC performed by specialists at this venue, or a specialist selected through the experience and expertise available to Pangaea. The member and attending physician will receive a written review of the original diagnosis and the recommended treatment within three working days after the complete medical data is received at St. Joseph’s.
