Frank Brady of Medical Missions For Children Honored by Healthcare Informatics

Medical Missions for Children's Chairman of the Board receives a 2004 Healthcare IT Innovator Award

Paterson, New Jersey, September 1, 2004 - Medical Missions for Children (MMC), a non-profit organization dedicated to elevating the care of catastrophically ill children in underserved international and U.S. communities, today announced that Frank Brady is a 2004 Healthcare Informatics Healthcare IT Innovator Award recipient.

Healthcare Informatics' annual Healthcare IT Innovator Award was established to recognize and celebrate trendsetters and outside-the-box thinkers who creatively utilize technologies to improve the quality and safety of patient care.

"Under Frank Brady's leadership, Medical Missions for Children has grown into a global telemedicine network capable of quickly and effectively helping the sickest children in some of the world's poorest nations," said Steve Gillen, secretary, board of directors, Medical Missions for Children. "Frank's vision ensures that children in underserved communities receive treatment in their neighborhood hospital with doctors that speak their language and understand their culture. They are comforted that these same local doctors have access to the advice and diagnostic knowledge of the world's leading medical centers. We are honored that his work, and that of Medical Missions for Children, has been recognized by Healthcare Informatics and its IT innovator award."

Mr. Brady and his wife, Peg, founded Medical Missions for Children in 1999. The organization enables medical staffs from pediatric healthcare facilities located in Latin America, Africa, and India to instantaneously access the knowledge and experience of pediatric sub-specialists located at more than 20 tier-one U.S.-based and four international medical institutions. Volunteer physicians are linked through Medical Missions for Children's Global Telemedicine & Teaching Network™ (GTTN), a real-time, interactive, satellite and Internet-based communications platform. The GTTN enables collaborative examinations, diagnoses, and treatment in a real time setting and will soon support regular broadcasts of live and pre-recorded educational programs.

"The GTTN represents the best that healthcare IT has to offer--using technology to link sophisticated equipment, dedicated medical volunteers and underserved patients who urgently need care. Healthcare Informatics is proud to give Frank Brady and Medical Missions for Children this well-deserved recognition," said Cynthia Huff, Executive Editor, Healthcare Informatics.
