MMC Honored as 2006 Tech Museum Awards Healthcare Laureate

We are pleased to announce that Medical Missions for Children was recently named a Tech Museum Awards Healthcare Laureate at the 2006 Tech Museum Awards. As a Laureate, MMC is recognized as one of the top five global charities in the field of Healthcare. The awards ceremony was held on Wednesday, November 15th at the Tech Museum in San Jose, California. The ceremony, emceed by Former NFL great and Tech Museum of Innovation trustee, Steve Young, honored a total of 25 Laureates in five categories. Also being honored at the 2006 Awards was Microsoft Founder, Bill Gates.

Frank Brady Named 2006 Purpose Prize Fellow

Frank Brady was honored as one of the inaugural Purpose Prize Fellows at the 2006 Civic Ventures Purpose Prize gala held in San Francisco in September. The Purpose recognized Frank Brady and Medical Missions for Children as one of the leading charities in the field of healthcare. Frank Brady was recognized for the outstanding work he and his organization, Medical Missions for Children, are doing to improve the access to quality healthcare for critically-ill children in medically underserved communities around the world. They are doing this through a combination of live diagnostic telemedicine sessions and a concentrated medical education effort using the newly launched Medical Broadcasting Channel.

Purpose Prize Fellows are selected each year from the top candidates for The Purpose Prize, a program that recognizes individuals over the age of 60 who are tackling the toughest problems in their communities and the country. The Fellowship program and the Innovation Summit supports these innovators, helps them develop their capacity, links them with funders and venture philanthropists, and seeks to combine these individual efforts into a wave of social innovation that could transform America.

MMC Recognized as a Finalist for the 2006 Stockholm Challenge

MMC was recognized as a Healthcare Award finalist for the 2006 Stockholm Challenge, modeled after the Nobel Prize. The top five finalists were chosen from a pool of more than 1000 global organizations. The Royal College of Technology sponsored the 2006 Stockholm Challenge, a competition recognizing outstanding global organizations that use technology to facilitate their mission. The four day event was held from May 8-11 at the Royal College of Technology in the city of Krista, Sweden.

MMC Named Intelligent Community Forum Visionary of the Year

Medical Missions for Children was honored as the first runner-up for the Intelligent Community Forum's Visionary of the Year Award. MMC was honored for the work they are doing in the field of telemedicine and medical broadcasting with their Telemedicine Outreach Program and the Medical Broadcasting Channel.

The Awards were presented on June 9th at the Intelligent Community Forum Building the Broadband Community Conference at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, NY. The Visionary of the Year award, which recognizes an individual or an organization who has taken a leadership role in promoting broadband technology as an essential utility in the Digital Age, was won by the Ministry of Communication for the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The Ministry of Communication was honored for the pioneering implementation of a broadband infrastructure used to facilitate Afghanistan's first democratic national elections.
