MEDICAL BROADCASTING CHANNEL

As a result of the experience garnered over the last five years with the MMC Telemedicine Outreach Program, we know for a fact that the underserved hospitals in the global community are in desperate need of specialized medical education. By providing this education, we are increasing the level of expertise in each hospital and helping to alleviate the disparity of care between developed nations and the developing world.

The timing to introduce MBC could not be better. It comes at a point in time when many medical experts are predicting that the total volume of all medical knowledge available today will double within the next five years. Many of the protocols and procedures used to treat illnesses today will no longer be applicable. How can this wave of critical information be disseminated to the global medical community in a way that will allow for high retention rates? The Medical Broadcast Channel was designed to do exactly that, using three separate media: Satellite Broadcast, Internet2 and IPTV Networks.

Satellite Broadcast:

MBC uses the Intelsat 903 satellite to broadcast its medical content to a broadcast footprint that encompasses nine million physicians, 14 million nurses, five million healthcare workers, 89,000 hospitals, and 16,000 universities and medical schools. Our target demographic includes healthcare workers, medical students, professors and health-related policy makers.

Internet2 Multicasting :

MBC is also available over Internet2, the high-speed research version of the Internet, and associated research networks all over the globe. These networks support the transmission of TV-quality video. They operate in 88 countries around the world and they serve more than 300,000 institutions, including universities, government agencies, hospitals, medical schools, corporations and research facilities.
