Healthcare workers have always been a very giving group, regardless of the circumstances. From taking care of a financially disadvantaged patient lacking insurance to traveling to a foreign country during their vacation to work with the underserved, healthcare workers show an unparalleled level of giving. In addition, physicians and their spouses tend to be very generous supporters of the hospitals in which they work. Doctors have certainly stepped up to help MMC by volunteering to participate in our telemedicine sessions.
As a way to say thank you to all of those physicians who donate their time, talents, and hard-earned money to serve those in need, MMC has decided to celebrate medical volunteerism in 2008 with the Angels of Medicine Awards. Events will be held in major cities throughout the United States during 2008, honoring recipients in each locale. MMC is presently working with Susan Davis International to identify our panel of judges and assemble the organizations that will sponsor our events.
